Chemical Dependency Treatment:
Chemical dependency, or dependency on alcohol or other substances, like cocaine or prescription drugs, is unquestionably detrimental to one's health, family, relationships and career. But those who are affected by a substance-use disorder are often unlikely to admit that they have an addiction, and may initially resist “detox” or “drug rehab.” If untreated, chemical dependency may lead to severe medical problems or death.
While best assessed by a professional, some of the most common chemical dependency indicators include:
- Drinking/using alone
- Denial of drinking/using
- Memory loss
- Fatigue
- Impaired relationships
- Missing work/school
- Daily use
Effective treatment of chemical dependency begins with a thorough assessment to determine which level of care is most appropriate. Patients who successfully maintain a long-term recovery often use support groups like Alcohol Anonymous (AA) to maintain sobriety, Narcotics Anonymous or other groups to avoid relying on drugs or a lifestyle involving drugs
Rogers Memorial Hospital provides intensive, structured chemical dependency treatment services for adults in all stages of addiction. We offer a range of treatment options not often found in other settings.
Led by Michael M. Miller, MD, FASAM, FAPA, and Jay Kasner, MD, board-certified physicians who specialize in addiction medicine, our experienced treatment team of chemical dependency professionals use evidence-based therapies to help patients achieve abstinence and practice principles of recovery.
Our treatment approach uses components of 12-step programming to educate patients about addictive illness and facilitate the recovery process.
We invite patients, families and referring treatment team members to contribute to developing the individual's chemical dependency treatment plan. Family members are an important part of our treatment approach.
Prior to admission, prospective patients complete a free screening that is reviewed by the program's attending physician to determine what level of care will meet the needs of each individual.
