Chemical Dependency
Addiction to alcohol or illicit drugs is recognized by the American Medical Association
as a chronic, progressive disease that—if left untreated—can
be fatal. Addiction has an impact on the individual as well as
his or her family, friends, coworkers and everyone who cares about
the person.
For
those who are dependent on drugs or alcohol, it is difficult to
quit on their own. Taking into account the unique needs of each
individual, the Chemical Dependency Services team determines the
most appropriate treatment approach.

Frequently Asked Questions
We
offer three levels of care to meet the needs of individuals in
all stages of addiction:
Detoxification
Services
Short-term inpatient detoxification and stabilization services
are specifically designed to meet the medical issues associated
with withdrawal from alcohol or other drugs. Inpatient treatment
also may be necessary for individuals with co-existing mental
health concerns. Individuals unique needs and situations impact
their length of stay.
Residential
Services
The Herrington Recovery Center provides long-term intensive treatment
in a confidential, home-like environment. This treatment is intended
for individuals who are medically stable, but have been unable
to achieve recovery in a short-term or low-intensity treatment
program. Length of stay in the residential program is determined
by each individual’s needs. An average length of stay is
60 days.
Day or Evening Treatment
Day or evening treatment
provides a critical link from inpatient care, a supplement to
outpatient therapy, or in some cases an alternative to inpatient
treatment. This level of care is designed to provide treatment
to individuals with chemical dependency in a safe and supportive
setting, while maintaining involvement with home, family, work
or school activities. Treatment is available in the day or the
evening to fit each individual’s needs. Length of involvement
is determined by the length of time required to complete treatment
goals.
