Day Treatment Program Specialty Groups

Rogers Memorial Hospital is proud to announce the opening of four specialty groups for children and adolescents. Each group uses evidence-based treatment components and is led by experienced mental health care professionals specifically trained in the group's area of concern.

Internalizing Behaviors
Monday - Friday, 8:00 to 11:30 am,
Brown Deer
Monday - Friday, 12:30 to 4:00 pm, Milwaukee

For teens ages 12-18 with internalizing disorders such as anxiety and depression, this group will focus on challenging thought processes and behaviors that contribute to maintaining anxiety and depression as well as educating patients on positive coping skills. There will be a strong psycho-educational component regarding diagnoses for both the teens and their families.

ADHD
Monday - Friday, 8:00 to 11:30 am, Milwaukee

For children ages 8-11 with a primary diagnosis of ADHD, whose symptoms have not successfully responded to prior treatment. After a thorough evaluation of a child’s functioning is completed, evidence-based treatment interventions are utilized to specifically target his/her behaviors associated with ADHD. Educating the family and child about the diagnosis and challenges of living with ADHD, and designing a behavior modification program that can be applied at home and at school are essential components of this comprehensive treatment program as well as utilizing psycho-social interventions to strengthen the child’s relationships with peers.

Trauma
Milwaukee:
Monday - Friday, 8:00 to 11:30 a.m.
Groups for ages: 4 to 7 and 8 to 12
Brown Deer:
Monday - Friday 12:30 to 4 p.m.
Groups for ages 12 to 18.

For children ages 4-18 who suffer from behavioral health issues related to the experience of traumatic events. Such events include, but are not limited to, physical or sexual abuse, the loss of parents due to death or incarceration, multiple transitions in the foster care system, and the witnessing domestic violence or murder. The overall focus will be on alleviation of the painful symptoms that can arise following traumatic events. Children will learn to safely express their feelings about the trauma, come to see their own reactions as normative, reduce their feelings of shame, learn to put the traumatic experience into a larger context, and obtain a sense of mastery regarding the painful events they have experienced.

Like all the young people in Rogers Memorial's Day Treatment Program, a child enrolled in one of these specialty groups will receive a multi-disciplinary evaluation including a psychological evaluation, nursing assessment, psycho-social assessment, and an education assessment. Medication consultation also will be available with a board certified child and adolescent psychiatrist. The day treatment program’s school liaison will work with school professionals so they have an understanding of the child's diagnosis and how it may affect school performance.
