Inpatient Eating Disorders Program

The inpatient eating disorder program at Rogers Memorial Hospital offers hospitalization for male and female adults who require brief intensive treatment in an acute setting. The focus of inpatient hospitalization is medical stabilization and transition to a structured but less intensive level of care. This program is located within our Adult Services unit with its own designated dining and community areas.

Treatment Program
Treatment may consist of several types of therapy. Patients meet individually with staff members to form an individualized treatment plan, which may include:

  • Group therapy
  • Strength-based therapy
  • Nutritional counseling
  • Family therapy
  • Experiential therapy
  • Medical and medication management
  • Multidisciplinary assessments

Treatment Team
Our program offers a comprehensive team of eating disorders specialists. Headed by Medical Director Ted Weltzin, M.D., the treatment team members may include:

  • Psychiatrist
  • Certified therapeutic recreation specialist
  • Psychologist
  • Physician
  • Registered nurse
  • Master’s level art therapist
  • Registered dieticians
  • Master’s level clinical therapists
  • Certified ropes course instructor

Aftercare
Rogers Memorial Hospital has outreach representatives to help you locate aftercare services in your community. Our professional staff offers retreats and workshops each year for those in recovery and their loved ones. For a current listing of our workshops, please visit our events calendar.

Admissions

Admission Assessment
Each patient meets individually with members of the multidisciplinary treatment team in order to develop a specific plan of care which addresses the needs of the whole person. This team approach is necessary to meet the goal of assisting the person toward an optimal level of health and functioning.

Admission Criteria
We can effectively treat individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • Have a primary diagnosis of an eating disorder
  • Demonstrate a willingness to receive treatment and a desire to recover
  • Have been declared medically stable by a licensed physician

We provide free, confidential screening and referral recommendations 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For more information, see our admissions page.
