Ever wonder about that teenage girl down the block who is so painfully thin? Or good old Uncle Charlie who often has whiskey on his breath…even in the morning? Or the guy next door that the neighborhood kids think is weird because he never leaves the house? At the last block party, did you hear about the pretty 15-year old girl who’s been cutting her arms and legs? Or about the retired CEO – recently widowed – who tried to commit suicide?

For nearly 100 years, Rogers Memorial Hospital has been caring for people with problems just like these – children, adolescents, adults and older adults – all facing serious mental health issues. From alcohol and drug dependence to eating disorders, obsessive compulsive behavior and scores of other diagnoses including depression, anxiety and suicidal behaviors, Rogers Memorial now treats patients in Oconomowoc, Delafield, Milwaukee, Brown Deer and Kenosha.

Rogers FoundationThe RMH Foundation supports patients and programs at the hospital by raising and managing philanthropic income. On an annual basis, with help from individuals, corporations, and local foundations like the Fleck Foundation, Sullivan Foundation, Helen Bader Foundation, Waukesha County Community Foundation, and the Porcupine Foundation, the RMH Foundation is able to support the following programs:

Patient Continuation Scholarships

Nearly a decade ago the hospital had an increasing number of patients who needed help in covering some of the cost of treatment once their own sources of funding, insurance and private resources, were exhausted. In response, the RMH Foundation established Patient Care Continuation Scholarships that offer financial assistance for patients who would otherwise be unable to complete their care. Often, it is the final weeks spent in therapy that makes the critical difference in a patient’s recovery. Each year the Foundation provides over $180,000 in patient continuation scholarships.

Angel Fund

The Angel Fund enables the Hospital’s Social Services staff and the Foundation to respond to small, but urgent, needs of the patients that enhance their treatment experience. Some examples include winter coats, hats, and gloves, pajamas, school uniforms, board games, books, and personal hygiene products as well as unusual medication needs…and the unexpected. The Angel Fund also provides dollars to insure that every child in treatment at any Rogers Memorial Hospital location receives a gift and special treats during the holiday season.

Rogers' Spiritual Care Program

The Spiritual Care Program exists to evaluate, plan and implement one-to-one support and group programming that will encourage and bring hope, while meeting the spiritual needs of patients under the care of Rogers Memorial Hospital. The Spirituality Coordinator and Chaplain work hand-in-hand with the medical staff through participation in the multi-disciplinary team approach, as well as by building partnerships with leaders of other faith communities for the purpose of referrals. The Foundation works in conjunction with the Spirituality Coordinator to raise 100% of the program’s budgetary needs.

Challenge Camp

Challenge CampRogers Memorial Hospital’s Challenge Camp is a summer day camp specifically designed for children with severe behavioral issues, mostly related to Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). To keep registration fees down, money for camp scholarships is provided by the RMH Foundation.

The Gardens

The beauty and tranquility the Oconomowoc campus gardens provide are priceless. They help to create an environment of peace, possibility and new life for our patients who are working so hard to achieve these goals for their lives. Thanks to Rita Nolte, our "Master" gardener, in the 100 years since Rogers began, the gardens have never looked as beautiful as they do this now.

Hospital Capital Expansion Projects

Rogers Memorial Hospital is dedicated to expanding and updating its facilities to improve the quality of its programs. The RMH Foundation partners with the Hospital to raise funds in support of these expansion projects. In 2007 the Foundation successfully completed its first capital campaign, Building on a Century of Healing, to raise $3 million in support of the Oconomowoc hospital expansion project:. Many thanks to all our friends who helped us make this dream a reality!

Over the next five years the Foundation looks forward to partnering with the Hospital to raise capital support for the Milwaukee Hospital expansion project, the NEW Herrington Recovery Center to be built on the Oconomowoc campus, and a Child & Adolescent Center to be located at the Oconomowoc campus.

Endowment

Rogers Memorial Hospital is very proud if its 100 year legacy of changing lives and saving lives of those afflicted by mental illness. In order to ensure that Rogers Memorial Hospital continues to offer hope, help, and healing 100 years from now, the Foundation has created an endowment fund.
