History: Theresa Limberg Rogers Quick Links: In addition to being an excellent business manager, Theresa Rogers was a gifted landscaper, developing elaborate flower and other creations which are still visible on the grounds today. The hospital grew most of its own food and she personally supervised the vegetable and fruit gardens. The property’s food production also included bee hives, as well as chicken and dairy farms. The gardens were so extensive that the facility became known in the Midwest because of its landscaping as well as its successful treatment program. Reportedly, patients (referred to as guests ) enjoyed over two miles of natural gardens and listening to the call of loons prominent on the lakes below. Mrs. Rogers died in 1930.
