Jerry L. Halverson, MD, a board-certified psychiatrist and medical director of adult services at Rogers Memorial Hospital in Oconomowoc, was honored at the AMA Foundation Excellence in Medicine Awards.
The event recognizes physicians who “exemplify the medical profession’s highest values” through outstanding community and peer leadership.

Halverson was selected for the award because of his efforts organizing opportunities for other physicians to give to their communities. The award includes sponsored leadership development training to strengthen the efforts of recipients toward advancing health care in America.
Halverson holds leadership positions within professional organizations both locally and nationally, including the AMA, the Wisconsin Medical Society, the American Psychiatric Association and the Wisconsin Psychiatric Association.
He has spoken extensively on mental health disorders and advocacy efforts to academic, legislative and community audiences.
Halverson was also recently selected for a 2010 “Forward under Forty” award by the University of Wisconsin Alumni Association.
