'Saving Sammy' author visits Rogers, Wisconsin

Beth Maloney speaks to the Rogers staff during a visit on Jan. 16, 2012.

Beth Maloney appeared on WUWM’s “Lake Effect” program about 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 18, 2012. She discussed her book "Saving Sammy: A Mother's Fight to Cure her Son's OCD." You can download or stream the recording from the internet at WUWM’s website.

Maloney, an author whose son was diagnosed with infection triggered obsessive-compulsive disorder at age 12, was in Wisconsin the week of Jan. 16 researching a new book for parents struggling to find the right treatment for their children with infection triggered OCD and anxiety disorders. At least one chapter of the book will be about hospitalization and residential treatment (like the treatment offered by the child and adolescent centers at Rogers Memorial Hospital).

Being a frontline treatment team for the most severe cases of anxiety disorders in the country, Rogers coordinates with the vast majority of leading experts in the field. Rogers is especially proud of its results and success in treating OCD including many cases diagnosed with PANDAS.
