Rogers recognized for dedication to social work

Helen Bader School of Social Welfare to honor Rogers Memorial

Oconomowoc – Rogers Memorial Hospital was recognized as the Helen Bader School of Social Welfare’s Field Agency of the Year and accepted the award at a banquet held in Milwaukee on May 6, 2011.

“Rogers is grateful for our relationship with the Helen Bader School,” said Paul Mueller, chief operating officer of Rogers Memorial Hospital. “Giving UW-Milwaukee graduate social work students invaluable clinical field practicum experiences is important to our community.”

For the past 11 years, Rogers has helped train 20 to 30 social work interns each year, said Jonna Pestka, LCSW, the social services manager at Rogers. “We give them a clinical immersion; social work interns at Rogers get a lot of supervised clinical work experience,” she said.

“Rogers Memorial Hospital has a long-standing track record of providing excellent clinical social work field supervision and instruction, as well as post-graduation employment opportunities, for our graduate students through their treatment programs in Oconomowoc, West Allis, and Brown Deer,” said Jerrold B. Rousseau, MSSW, LCSW, a social work field education liaison with the Helen Bader School.

“The clinical staff members of Rogers Memorial Hospital have been tireless in their dedication to the supervision of our graduate students in the evidence-based treatment of children, adolescents, and adults with a wide range of anxiety disorders, mood disorders, eating disorders, and substance use disorders.”
