Older Adult Services

“Rogers Memorial Hospital provided fine, quality care for my mother. I especially want to thank the social worker who was always available with his expertise. Thanks to all the staff who made this experience go smoothly for me and my family.”

Older Adult Services

As individuals grow older, goals and priorities begin to change. People seek a balance between work, leisure, home and family, creativity and personal relationships. Older Adult Services of Rogers Memorial Hospital recognizes that overall well-being is a key factor in enabling individuals to cope. We take into account the connection between physical and mental health, encouraging a proactive, all-encompassing approach to personal well-being.

Frequently Asked Questions

Rogers Memorial has a long history of treating older adults and understands their complex medical problems, difficult discharge-planning decisions as well as unique family concerns. We have responded to the needs of the community by creating a specialized unit designed to meet the physical and emotional needs of older adults. Located at Rogers Memorial Hospital–Milwaukee, this unit allows us to treat older adults with even the most severe and persistent illness patterns that may not respond quickly to changes in medication or behavior management.

Treatment Program
Rogers Memorial Hospital offers Inpatient Programs for older adults experiencing emotional or behavioral difficulties. Our Milwaukee campus offers a separate inpatient unit with staff trained in older adult care. This specialized inpatient unit uses a team approach to stabilize patients and implement behavioral treatment plans that enhance the quality of life for the older adult and his or her caregiver(s).

The Older Adult Services of Rogers Memorial Hospital provides each individual a comprehensive evaluation to determine the most appropriate treatment approach.

Treatment components may include:

  • Medical Assessment
  • Medication management
  • Nutritional assessment
  • Behavior analysis and management
  • Environment assessment to prevent falls
  • Treatment plan conferences with patient and medical team
  • Family education
  • Group therapy
  • Art, music and recreation therapy

The key component of treatment is communication between the patient, family caregivers, referral source and the treatment team members. This interaction focuses on treatment expectations, patient progress updates and discharge planning.
