Workshops can be tailored to your specific needs or can be taken
from the listings on the following pages. Each of the privately
arranged training days are charged a flat fee; however, travel
and lodging arrangements (if necessary) are additional.
Workshop and community education presentations range from chemical
abuse to relapse prevention; eating disorders to communication;
Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHA) to anxiety disorders;
depression to family relations; healthy eating to art therapy.
These topics are chosen to encompass a variety of community and
personal issues.
Many of the workshops qualify for continuing education credit
hours. Tentative dates can be reserved in advance and may be changed
or cancelled without obligation. For more information or to arrange
a workshop, please contact Thomas J. Shiltz, MS, CADCIII, Rogers

Workshops and training opportunities available for Educators
and Professionals off-premises:
- Practical Strategies
for Treating Eating Disorders
This one-day workshop approaches recovery as a process of self-integration
that involves two processes operating in tension: (1) the gradual
surrender of eating disorder behaviors (establishing abstinence),
and (2) restoration of fully functional internal self-regulation
(restoring the "dis-regulated self" to full psycho-social-spiritual
functioning). Register

- Practical Strategies for Treating Chemical
Dependency
The chemically dependent person's commitment to substances for
the sake of the rewards is the hallmark feature of the illness.
This one-day workshop provides clinicians with the knowledge
and skills necessary to help chemically dependent persons surrender
their relationship with mood-altering chemicals in favor of
healthy relationships with self, others and a "Power greater
than self." Register

program need support for their recovery if they are to cope

of students recovering from chemical dependency, and outlines
the procedures and tasks inherent in the design and implementation
of relapse prevention groups in the school setting. Register

- Support Group Facilitation Skills
5-day workshop
School systems with successful student assistance programs employ
support groups as a necessary part of helping students cope
with their own or others' chemical use. The primary purpose
of such support groups is to provide students with a meaningful
opportunity for growth and change. The primary task faced by
the group facilitator is "How do I create a safe place
in which students can work on painful problems?" This five-day
workshop examines the theoretical and practical dynamics of
creating a safe and supportive environment. The workshop also
allows participants to experience the group process themselves.
