Regional Medical Director

Theodore E. Weltzin, MD, FAED, FAPA, CEDS, a board-certified adult psychiatrist and serves as a regional medical director for Rogers Behavioral Health's intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization programs.

Since joining Rogers’ medical staff in 2001, Dr. Weltzin has provided direction in all areas of development and clinical oversight of one of the largest eating disorder treatment centers in the country. Over his career he has trained more than 100 clinicians and developed inpatient, residential and partial hospitalization mental health programs that address eating disorders, OCD and anxiety and depression.

Dr. Weltzin has authored and co-authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications, abstracts and invited book chapters. He has lectured extensively in North America and Europe to professional and academic audiences, in addition to his guest appearances as an expert on CNN, CBS Morning News, Good Morning America, The View, Katie Couric and the Dr. Phil show.

A Minnesota native, Dr. Weltzin earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota School of Medicine. He served as chief resident at St. Luke's Hospital in New York before becoming medical director of the inpatient eating disorders unit at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Weltzin also served on the faculty at the University of Wisconsin as the director of the Depression Treatment Program.

Dr. Weltzin is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and the Academy for Eating Disorders. He serves as an assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at the Medical College of Wisconsin and is a certified eating disorder specialist through the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals.
