“The Weekend Family Days at the house opened my eyes to know that I wasn’t the only person feeling angst, fear, hurt and realizing the uselessness my efforts had on the diseases. I needed to get out of the way and focus on getting help for myself.” – Lisa R.
As an adjunct to family therapy sessions, a weekly Family and Friends Program is held on Saturdays. The program gives families the opportunity to interact with members of the treatment team and participate in a variety of presentations and activities. The program is designed to give individuals who can be a part of the patient’s support system assistance in understanding the concepts of addiction and its negative impact to begin the healing process. The program also provides the chance for family members to get to share with each other, receive support and interact with each other regarding their own support group participation and their own family member recovery plans.
Our program is an interactive, community experience that brings together residents and their loved ones for meaningful engagement in a structured program. Not only are the people who are in treatment at the Herrington Recovery Center going through a great deal, but very often so are their family members and friends.
Come for support and get vital information about addiction recovery. Children are welcome, depending on their maturity level. Speakers are inspiring and bring hope and encouragement. Come prepared to learn and grow.
Our program is held in the Herrington-McBride Alumni Association Room, located in the main hospital building on the third floor. We start promptly at 9 a.m. and end at 1:30 p.m. Please plan to arrive at 8:45 a.m. to find a seat, have a cup of coffee, plus a snack, and relax.
