Nathan Butzen, PsyD

Director of Services, Atlanta

Nathan Butzen, PsyD, is a licensed psychologist and director of services for Rogers Behavioral Health in Atlanta, where he supervises the delivery of cognitive behavioral therapy for partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs. He trains, coaches, and develops staff and trainees in providing evidence-based treatments for adolescents and adults with depression, trauma, OCD, and anxiety disorders.

Dr. Nathan is a proud graduate of Berry College in Rome, Georgia, where he earned his B.A. in Psychology and Spanish. He completed his M.A. and Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology at Regent University and matched to Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) for his predoctoral internship. Dr. Nathan completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Structural Family Therapy with two pioneers in the field of family therapy.

Prior to joining Rogers, Dr. Nathan served for five years as the clinical director for The Summit Counseling Center in Johns Creek, Georgia, a large non-profit counseling organization with five outpatient locations and therapists in over 30 public/private schools. Dr. Nathan served for six years in the Army Reserves as a psychologist with the 5th Medical Brigade, and he was mobilized to Fort Bliss for seven months, providing care to deploying and returning soldiers. Dr. Nathan has been involved with the delivery of mental health services for the past 15 years, providing assessment, therapy, supervision, and program oversight in settings that include managed care, juvenile justice, outpatient practice and the child welfare system.

Areas of expertise for Dr. Nathan include working with military and veteran mental health, PTSD and reactions to traumatic life events, suicidality, family dynamics, and spiritual integration in treatment. Dr. Nathan was trained in Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) with the Center for Deployment Psychology.

Dr. Nathan is a member of the Georgia Psychological Association.
